Why take an Online Driver’s Education course?
In the State of California, any person wanting a to obtain a Learner’s Permit must complete an approved Driver’s Education Course with a Driving School if they are 15 1/2 years to 17 1/2 years old. An online Driver’s Education course offers students the ability to study at home and to work at their own pace. Most students and parents prefer this method of learning as it offers the freedom to study as your schedule allows. It is perfect for students who have busy schedules and yet still want quality education. We also recommend that you have the California DMV website open as you take the course with the page that has the DMV Handbook portion available. This will help you to read the rules of the road as well as see the correct answers as you take the test. It is our aim to see each one of our students pass with flying colors!
Is this Online course approved by the State of California?
Yes, we have been an approved Driving School by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for the State of California since 2003. Our driving school license number is E4007. Our online Driver’s Ed course is approved by the State of California. After passing our online course, you will receive a state issued Certificate of Completion (DL400B).
How long does it take to receive my Driver’s Education completion certificate?
We will mail your official Certificate of Completion of Driver’s Education (DL400B) within two business days of successful completion of the course. (Please allow for postal delays when there are legal holidays and Sundays.)
What do I need to take my permit test?
You will need the Certificate of Completion of Driver’s Education (DL400B); a valid birth certificate/passport and pay the DMV processing fee of $46.00 in order to take the test. You will also need to have the DMV application signed by both parents.
When is my permit valid?
In order for your permit to be valid, it must be signed off by a licensed driving instructor BEFORE you can legally drive with your parents. This is usually signed at the time of your first driving lesson. Please call our office or come in during business hours as soon as you receive your California Learner’s Permit.
How long will the Driver’s Training course take to complete?
According to the DMV, a driving school will usually take 6 months to complete the full 6 hours of Driver’s Training. This allows the students to utilize this time period to practice at least 15-20 hours with their parents in between lessons. We will take 6 months to complete the Driver’s Training Course, providing the student contacts us quickly after each lesson to schedule the next one. A delay in contacting us will result in a delay in our ability to schedule your lessons. Our lessons are each 2 hours in length and our instructors cover many different driving skills during that time. If you cancel a driving lesson it could result in a delay in the scheduling process. Please reference our “Welcome Letter” that we issue at the time of registration for all the details.
Do I need to take Driver’s Training? Are the Driving Instructors professional and patient?
If you are under 17 ½ you will need to complete a 6-hour course in Driver’s Training from a licensed driving school in order to take your driver’s license test. You will receive a Certificate of Completion of Driver’s Training after you have completed the 6-hour course. Each one of our Driving Instructors are professionally trained and are patient with our students. They have been trained to teach students the safe and legal way to drive as well as how to successfully pass the DMV Behind the Wheel License test. We provide in-car evaluations for every student and encourage progress with each lesson. They will speak with the student regarding areas of improvement as well as correction. Who can take this course?
This course is approved for persons 15 years old or older in the state of California. It is also available to any adult wanting to improve their driving skills or prepare for their permit test or Driver’s License test renewal.
What happens if I lose my certificate?
If you lose the certificate that we have issued to you, we will mail you a duplicate certificate upon request and the processing fee will be $20.00. These certificates are numbered and are strictly controlled by the DMV.
Are there any refunds?
Refunds are not given to any one who has already received their certificate. Refunds are not usually given on any of our services; however, they will also be based on an individual basis and may be refused by the owners. If a refund is given, a $25 fee will be charged to offset our processing fees.
How long do I have to complete this course?
You have ONLY ONE YEAR to complete the entire course (including the Driver’s Training (if you paid for that at the time of registration.) It is VERY important to take note of this! If you go over the one-year time limit you will be charged a minimum $100 late fee to complete your driver’s training course. Any person taking longer than 18 months will be recharged the current rate for Driver’s Training (6 hours) in full.
What if I miss my Driver’s Training lesson or need to cancel?
If you miss your lesson or cancel less that 24 hours before, you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee. This is explained in our “Welcome Letter” that you will be given at the time of registration or will be mailed to you upon completion of the Driver’s Education Course. If you contact us a day ahead of time, there will be no fee.
